What is AIclicks? A plain explanation and who it fits

A plain-language explanation of AIclicks, the prompt-and-answer tracker for AI search: how it works, what its parts do and where its limits are.

Quick answerAIclicks is software that asks AI assistants the questions your customers ask and records which brands and sources the answers name. It then turns the gaps into a to-do list. It measures presence in AI answers, not website traffic, so it answers whether you are mentioned and leaves whether that pays to your own analytics.

What AIclicks is, in plain language

AIclicks is software that asks AI assistants the questions your customers ask and records which brands and sources the answers name. Its documentation calls it a generative engine optimization platform, GEO for short, meaning a tool that measures and improves how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers. The vendor adds that it does not try to game AI systems with short-term hacks.

AI visibility is the plain name for the thing being measured: whether an assistant such as ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews names your brand, cites your site and describes you accurately when someone asks a question about your category.

How AIclicks works, from prompt to action list

  • Connect your domain so the tool knows which brand and site to look for.
  • Add prompts, which are the high-intent questions a customer might ask.
  • Check visibility and share of voice: how often answers name you and how you compare with competitors.
  • Analyze sources: which websites, reviews and directories the answers cite.
  • Review the action list: content to improve, entities to strengthen and sources to approach.
  • Use the agent to draft articles from the visibility data, then review and edit them before publishing.
  • Measure change over time, with GA4 linking available on the Pro and Business plans.

The parts: prompts, models, sources, competitors and sentiment

  • Prompt: one question sent to an AI platform. Plans cap tracked prompts at 30, 150 or 300.
  • Model or platform: the AI product being asked. Plans let you pick 3, 4 or 6 from a longer list.
  • Response: the vendor's word for a stored AI answer, capped per month on each plan.
  • Source: a web page an answer cites. The source view shows where competitors are named.
  • Competitor: another brand you add so answers can be compared side by side.
  • Sentiment: whether the mention reads as positive, neutral or negative, as logged by the tool.

The boundary: what an answer tracker cannot show

A tracker reports what assistants said when asked, not what your customers did next. OpenAI's help page says web search results and citations can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect, and that saved memory and approximate location can change how a question is searched, so two people can get different answers. Google says AI Mode and AI Overviews may use different models and techniques, so what they show varies, and AI Overviews often do not trigger.

Traffic is a separate question. Google counts clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode in the Web search type of the Search Console Performance report. A benchmark of 95 websites over twelve months found organic search delivered 39 times more traffic than AI assistants, though its authors note that AI Overviews arrive as ordinary organic sessions, so its AI figure is a floor. Another study could not find a reliable link between AI visibility and later branded search or direct traffic. AIclicks answers whether you are named. Whether naming pays is for your own analytics to show.

Who uses it and when it makes sense

AIclicks suits owners and marketers who keep a list of questions customers ask, will review results every week and can act on the gaps with content or outreach. It is a poor fit before you have run a few free checks by hand. Read how to check AI visibility first, then the review for strengths and limits and the pricing guide for plan sizes.
